Counter-rotating Vs Contra-Rotation
One thing that people often are confused with the diffference between "Contra-Rotation" and "counter-rotation." The terms are used incorrectly more than you can imagine in the books, manuals, and websites. I wanted to take this opportunity to clarify the difference between the two.
href = "http://jerry-airola.net/jerry-airola-about.html" title = "Pilot Jerry Airola helicopter "> Jerry Airola helicopter pilot:" Do you have the ability to enter vortex ring state unsafe V-22? "
No. Nearly all helicopters has ever done some unique characteristics. If pilots are unaware of these features, if not properly trained to recognize situations and adjust their procedures accordingly, then that can lead to a very serious situation. For example: The UH-1 Iroquois (Huey) was important issues when it first went into production. The UH-1 was then (and still is) a rotor system that rotates the post. If the pilot unloading system rotor by making a negative "G" maneuver, excessive violent flapping sheet may occur. When this happens, the center of the rotor system will in contact with the mast and there will be a hit "" noise (referred to as hitting "mast" in the user manual). Will encounter one or two times and then the rotor system will separate from the aircraft. A lot of pilots died before they realized what was wrong. The official review (According to operators manual): Do not make negative "G" maneuvers. The aircraft flew for nearly 30 years before establishing a change in the included rubber mast coated springs to help reduce the severity of the mast a blow, but still fail to eliminate the problem completely. Is Huey safety hazard because of this situation? No. It is one of the safest helicopters ever produced. It's just a situation that any pilot knows Huey avoid. The same applies to the V-22. If I were a V-22 pilot, I would avoid rapid descents and floating in excessive crosswinds. I would also like to avoid the deflection of other aircraft. This can formations require the need for loose on landing, which is always a much safer situation for any operation of helicopters.

The number, size and type of engine used in a helicopter determines the size, the role and ability of helicopter design. The first helicopters engines were simple mechanical devices, such as rubber bands or zones, which relegated the size of the toy helicopters and small models. For half a century before the first airplane flight, steam trains are used to promote the development of understanding of the aerodynamics of helicopters, but the limited power to not allow human spaceflight. The introduction of the internal combustion engine in the late 19th century became the watershed for the development of helicopter engines began to be developed and produced that were powerful enough to allow helicopters capable of raising human beings.
The first helicopters designs custom-built engines or rotary engines designed for aircraft, but were soon replaced by more powerful car engines and radial engines. The single factor most limiting the development of helicopters during first half of the 20th century was the amount of energy produced by an engine was not able to overcome the engine weight in vertical flight. This was passed in early success helicopters using smaller engines available. When the pact was developed boxer engine of the helicopter industry found a lighter engine that adapts easily to small helicopters, although the radial engines continued to be used by helicopters lager.
CRT displays I've described before serving for various purposes. Not only are they for viewing video, target designation, and implementation of aircraft, but also are capable of being used for navigation (INS). The new "R" model airplane manuals refer to it as "EGI / INS (Global Positioning System Integrated / Inertial navigation system). EGI now updates the INS, unless EGI not work, then manual updates should be made respondents more waypoints to correct gyroscopic drift in the INS. By inserting latitude and longitude information and the initialization of the position of the airplane, the navigation system will tell the pilot that is if the GPS information is not available. In older models, before GPS was available, the pilot had to regularly update position information manually known reference points to keep the system accurate, and the navigation system can help you navigate with accuracy levels low. EGI will make those changes now if available. Now there is even more precise information on the critical situation for the adjustment of artillery too.
In 1906, two French brothers, Jacques and Louis Breguet, began experimenting with airfoils for helicopters and in 1907, experiments resulted in the Gyroplane No. 1. Although there is some uncertainty about the dates, sometime between August 14 and September 29, 1907, the Gyroplane No. 1 lifted its pilot in the air about two feet (0.6 m) for one minute. However, the Gyroplane No. 1 proved to be extremely unstable and needs a man in every corner of the structure of the plane to keep it stable. For this reason, the flights of the Gyroplane No. 1 are considered to be the first manned flight of a helicopter, but not a free flight or without ties.
