I think it's cars, telephones, airplanes, computers / internet and hot water! But is there so many, what do you think?
Printing press: it made it much easier to print and disseminate information. The micro-processor: key to all modern digital technology. The wheel. It might seem obvious to us, but it is the basis of all subsequent developments of gears, pulleys and bearings. Most companies have never developed, and why most never implemented. The scientific principle: this led to the development of modern research practices in chemistry, physics and much more including the invention and research and technology development. The telescope: this device, and some great thinkers, assisted in redefining how we found ourselves in the universe. And finally, sixth in good measure: BEER! Need I say more?
