In the 1950′s there was an experimental navy aircraft with Counter Rotating propellers.?
This aircraft was a large single engine type with only a pilot, even whereas when a kid I built a model of it I cannot remember what it was called. This was NOT the VETOL type but standard aircraft design.
The only one I know of was the FX-11 1946 Howard Hughes
