Electrical Problem? Breakers keep tripping…?
Our house is 2 years old. We have never had a problem with the breakers tripping until we put a airplane ceiling fan up in my sons room. My father-in-law and his friend, a carpenter put the fan up. They did not turn the breaker off in the room to put up the fan, just the light switch off. After the fan was put up, 2 hours later, the power went off in his room. I went down stairs to check the breaker box and went to turn the light on in my garage downstairs and it would not turn on. The breaker was tripped in my sons room, so I turned it back on but the breaker that controls the light downstairs will not trip back on, everytime i try to turn it on, i see sparks in the back of the breaker box. My sons room and the garage are on 2 seperate breakers. So i haven’t messed with the breaker for downstairs cause of the sparks. But this morning, the lights in my bedroom tripped off when my wife called. Does anyone know why its doing this and what the problem is? Do I need an electrician?
One of the wires on the ceiling fan has probably came loose and is grounding out..tripping the breaker..I first thought maybe wired incorrect..but you said it went 2 hours before tripping..so I suspect..one of the wires in the fan wasnt connected tightly enough, or a wire nut came loose and now it is grounding out and causeing the breaker to trip..If it done this from start, then would I say incorrectly wired
