I want to use an airbrush to be a model. Where do I start?
I am moving and finally I will have a larger space to devote himself to WW 1 / 2 models and it's time I graduated from the can "or spray paint and a ton 'or tape. What should I know? Equipment, techniques Paint is mixed … I'm starting from scratch. Additional Info: Usually working in the 1:72 size aircraft, so small details are important. With the extra space, I'd like to try some boats too.
I've been building models since 1974, and my favorite is a Paasche VL Airbrush Double Action, internal mixing, using a Paasche compressor. I have no water separator because I live in an arid region. This is my airbrush model:% 20 & http://www.paascheairbrush.com/2008pdf/VL 20Airbrushes.pdf 20VLS%% I use acrylic and enamel paint (Testors, Tamiya, Floquil), the mixture is usually 1 part paint to 3 parts of it thinner. Check This book of basic techniques: http://kalmbachcatalog.stores.yahoo.net/12426.html You should practice on some older models, or scrap plastic. When I paint most models (heavy U.S. Naval Aircraft, 1941-present), usually paint the base color, while everything is still in the womb, then the painting those "other" areas such as wheel wells, cockpit tub, etc. This way I have to do only light touch at the seams and such … and clean any pattern of camouflage. GOOD LUCK!
